Important: Our Role

Funding Fred is an independent financial intermediary and introducer. We are not a lender, not a credit provider, and not a credit broker. We do not provide financial advice, arrange credit contracts, or make lending decisions. Our role is to introduce you to specialist business funding providers who may be able to assist with your funding requirements. Once introduced, your relationship is with those third parties directly.

We may introduce you to specialist business funding providers who may assess your eligibility and present offers to you directly. These providers may share your information with credit reporting bodies (such as Equifax, Illion, or Experian) to conduct identity verification and soft credit enquiries — this will not impact your credit score. They may also share information with fraud prevention agencies. Please be aware that if fraud is identified, this may affect your ability to obtain financial services, credit, or employment.

  • To verify your identity and businessWe use your ABN and business details to verify your business registration with the Australian Business Register (ABR). This helps ensure the accuracy of the information provided and improves lender matching.
  • To introduce you to relevant business servicesBased on the information you provide, we may introduce you to selected business service providers offering products and services relevant to your business, such as business insurance, business bank accounts, accounting software, energy comparison, merchant services, and other business services. These introductions are based on your business profile and are intended to help you access services that may benefit your business.
  • To send you marketing and promotional communicationsWe and/or our third-party marketing partners may use the personal information you send to us for our marketing purposes, including information about business funding, business services, and offers from selected partners that may be relevant to your business, in accordance with your marketing preferences and the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
  • Deliver targeted advertising to youWe may use your information to develop and display personalised content and advertising tailored to your interests and/or location.
  • For other business purposesSuch as data analysis, identifying usage trends, determining the effectiveness of our promotional campaigns and to evaluate and improve our Website and services.

Specialist Business Funding Providers

As an introducer, we share your information with specialist business funding providers for the purpose of assessing your eligibility for funding products. By submitting your information through our service, you consent to these providers using your data to:

  • Assess your eligibility for business funding products including unsecured business loans, merchant cash advances, and lines of credit
  • Conduct soft credit enquiries with credit reporting bodies such as Equifax, Illion, or Experian (these will not impact your credit score)
  • Verify your identity through credit reporting bodies and fraud prevention agencies
  • Verify your business through the Australian Business Register (ABR) using your ABN
  • Contact you directly regarding funding options, application progress, and offers

Please be aware that if fraud is identified by credit reporting bodies or fraud prevention agencies, this may affect your future access to financial services, credit, or employment. Once your data has been shared with a funding provider, their own privacy policy governs their use of your data. We encourage you to review their privacy policies, which will be made available to you at the point of introduction.

Selected Business Service Partners

We may also share your information with selected business service providers to introduce you to products and services relevant to your business. These may include:

  • Business insurance providers (e.g., public liability, professional indemnity)
  • Business banking providers (e.g., business current accounts, savings accounts)
  • Accounting and bookkeeping software providers

We only share the information necessary for the introduction (typically your name, email, phone number, and relevant business details). These partners will contact you regarding their services and their own privacy policies will govern their use of your data.

6. DO WE SEND YOUR INFORMATION OVERSEAS?

In Short: Some of our service providers are located overseas, and your information may be processed outside Australia.

In accordance with APP 8, we may disclose your personal information to overseas recipients. Our infrastructure providers and some service partners operate in countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. Before disclosing personal information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to ensure that the recipient does not breach the Australian Privacy Principles in relation to your information.

By providing your personal information to us, you consent to the disclosure of your information to overseas recipients for the purposes described in this notice.

7. DO WE USE COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES?

In Short: We may use cookies and other tracking technologies to collect and store your information.

Advertising (Meta/Facebook)

We use tracking technologies provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. (including the Meta Pixel and Conversions API) to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns and to display personalised ads to you. This may involve sharing hashed (securely anonymised) contact information (like email or phone number) with Meta to match your visit to your Facebook profile.

8. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?

In Short: We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this privacy notice unless otherwise required by law.

We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy notice, in accordance with APP 11 (quality and security of personal information). No purpose will require us keeping your personal information for longer than twelve (12) months past the start of the idle period of the user’s account.

Document Retention

Uploaded documents are retained on our secure servers only for a short period (typically 7 days) to facilitate the transfer to our funding partners. Once successfully transferred or after this period expires, the files are permanently deleted from our temporary storage. Our funding partners will retain copies of these documents in accordance with their own retention policies and regulatory obligations.

9. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?

In Short: We aim to protect your personal information through a system of organisational and technical security measures, in accordance with APP 11.

We have implemented appropriate technical and organisational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. These include encryption of data in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, please also remember that we cannot guarantee that the internet itself is 100% secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal information, transmission of personal information to and from our Website is at your own risk.

10. DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM MINORS?

In Short: We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 18 years of age. Our service is intended for use by business owners and directors who are 18 years of age or older.

11. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?

In Short: Under the Privacy Act 1988 and the APPs, you have rights regarding your personal information.

Under Australian privacy law, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal information (APP 12) — You may request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct your personal information (APP 13) — You may request that we correct any inaccurate, out-of-date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading personal information.
  • Request deletion — You may request that we delete your personal information where it is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was collected.

Withdraw Consent: Where we rely on your consent to process your data (including sharing with funding providers and business service providers), you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. Please note that withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before withdrawal, and once your data has been shared with a third party, their own privacy policy governs their continued use of that data.

Cookies: You can set your browser to remove or reject cookies.

Marketing: You can unsubscribe from our marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us directly. This is in accordance with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

12. CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK FEATURES

Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems include a “Do-Not-Track” (“DNT”) feature. We do not currently respond to DNT browser signals as no uniform technology standard has been finalised.

13. DO WE MAKE UPDATES TO THIS NOTICE?
